Help with Manager Profiles

Did You Know?

All-time league statistics beginning with the 2000 season (based on 1999 statistics) are available in the SFBL Encyclopedia.

There are three SFBL charter members, managers who have been affiliated with the league in every year since the 1994 inaugural season: Micah Kerr, Scott Weakland, and Jon Wietelmann.

Following the 2011 season, Jon Wietelmann is the winningest manager in SFBL history with 1,143 wins, followed by Micah Kerr with 1,125. Kevin Smith has the most losses with 1,245 losses, followed by Scott Weakland with 1,201 losses.

Chris Browder's 1997 One-Hit Wonders and Dan UpDyke's The Bald & The Beautiful are the only SFBL teams to win the Sammy Series after posting the best record in the regular season. The annual playoff defeat of the league's best team has been dubbed "The Curse of Sundaresan" in honor of hard-luck teams owned by Andy Sundaresan in the 1999 through 2002 seasons.

Only Alex Rodriguez remains with his original SFBL team since the first keeper season in 1998. He was drafted with the 15th overall pick.

In seven seasons, Andrew Sundaresan compiled a .616 wining percentage and averaged 99.9 wins per season. Through the 2011 season, the most successful active manager by winning percentage is Dan UpDyke with a .603 winning percentage. David Burke has the lowest winning percentage in league history, and among active managers, with a .420 winning percentage.

Chris Browder leads all managers with four 100-win seasons (1997, 1998, 1999, 2003). Scott Weakland leads all managers with four 100-loss seasons (2003, 2005, 2006, 2007), just missing the dubious distinction of five consecutive 100-loss seasons by only losing 99 games in 2004.

Andy Sundaresan’s 2002 Irrationals and Dan UpDyke’s 2004 The Bald & The Beautiful share the record for most wins in a single season with 116. Chris Browder’s 2005 One-Hit Wonders hold the record for most losses in a forgettable 43-119 season.

Manager Tips:
  1. Read the rules. There's a good chance that the question you're about to ask is answered there.

  2. Change your manager profiles correctly. Your changes to the text file are not automatically imported into DMB and the Game Secretary has to enter each change and generate each profile report MANUALLY. In order to minimize mistakes, please make your desired changes as clear as possible and highlight all changed items in yellow and/or with asterisks.

  3. Don't release ineligible players. Remember to check a player's status before you try to release him.

  4. Separate all transactions. For example, "Sign A and release B. Sign C and release D." is much better than "Sign A and C and release B and D." If you attempt to make an impossible or ineligible transaction, then the Game Secretary can still grant part of your wishes for the next round of games.

  5. Send profile changes with free agent announcements. If a signed free agent will impact your manager profile, you must send the profile changes at the time the player is signed. If no additional instructions are provided, a signed player will be automatically placed on the active roster and will be used as the computer manager sees fit.

  6. Send profile changes with trade announcements. Note that according to the rules a trade will not be implemented until all involved managers have updated their manager profiles with valid, legal changes.
